We are coming together at a pivotal moment in our nation’s history—one that demands each of us to stand up for climate justice and the well-being of ALL our relations.\nRecent actions by the Federal government threaten to unravel decades of organizing for climate justice ~ we must turn our collective grief and frustration into bold\, state-level action. This is our moment to push for real solutions and dialogue with our elected officials to ensure that Indigenous rights and climate justice remain top priorities in Minnesota!\n\nInside the Capitol: Legislative Meetings & Advocacy\nThroughout the day we’ll engage directly with legislators in scheduled meetings to ask for a “Yes” vote on critical climate legislation including the Wild Rice Act (SF 1246)\, 100% eWaste Collection & Recycling Bill and others from the Rise & Repair alliance platform (RiseAndRepair.org/platform).\nWhether you’re an experienced advocate or new to this work\, you’ll be supported in making your voice heard. DESCRIPTION:Together\, we will connect\, learn\, pray\, engage\, play\, celebrate\, and honor the spirit of water. This year’s event spans two days! \nNow in its third year\, Spirit of Water highlights the care and responsibility involved in protecting and sharing valuable waterways\, like Mississippi River. Our focus centers on themes of gratitude\, celebration\, unity\, the commonality of water as a presence in our lives\, reverence\, respect\, and honor for all that is sacred. \nOn Friday\, July 25\, we will meet at United Theological Seminary ’s campus (or online) from 3:00–5:30 PM CT for an educational afternoon and evening. Afternoon workshops will focus on water protection\, ecological justice\, and more. After the sessions\, we will offer a light dinner for participants. \nIn the evening\, starting at 7:00 PM\, we will hear from two scientists and Anishinaabeg leaders in climate justice work: Leanna Goose\, a co-facilitator of the Rise & Repair Coalition\, and Dawn Goodwin\, co-founder of R.I.S.E. Coalition. They will speak about issues related to climate justice\, water protection\, and Indigenous water rights. \nOn Saturday\, July 26\, we will meet at Hidden Falls Regional Park in St. Paul from 1:00–5:00 PM.
