SUMMARY:Data Center Moratorium Now: Earth Day of Action at the Capitol
DESCRIPTION:Concerned Minnesotans are opposing hyperscale data center projects in local towns\, cities\, and counties across the state.\n\nWith more than 20 active hyperscale data center proposals in Minnesota\, the “Data Center Bill” passed in the 2025 special session falls short of creating a comprehensive regulatory framework to adequately address the impact of these projects.\n\nThe 2026 legislative session ends May 17th\, and we need lawmakers to act NOW on behalf of the people\, NOT the Big Tech billionaires behind these projects.\n\nJoin Rise & Repair on the afternoon of Earth Day (April 22nd\, 2026) for a Community Hearing on Hyperscale Data Centers in the rotunda featuring testimony from impacted constituents\, concerned residents & policy experts asking lawmakers for immediate action on data centers before session concludes.\n\nTo Our Lawmakers: Listen\, Learn & Legislate – We need a Data Center Moratorium NOW!\n\nOUTLINE OF THE DAY\n10-11am: Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness Earth Day Rally12-1pm: Lunch & Gathering on the South Steps / Promenade1:30-3pm: Data Center Public Hearing in the Rotunda\nConvened by the Rise & Repair Alliance\, this community organizing effort has been put forward by Stop the Hermantown Data Center\, Coalition for Responsible Data Center Development\, Stop the Pine Island Data Center\, CURE\, Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy MNIPL\, MUKWA\, Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness\, Third Act!
