Healing Democracy: Early Voting for Community
On Wednesday, October 7, Minnesota Interfaith Power & Light (MNIPL), Multifaith Antiracism, Change & Healing (MARCH), and the Interfaith Movement Chaplains Network, are bringing together faith leaders and community caregivers to vote ahead of Election Day and show their commitment to bringing care, calm, groundedness, and confidence to their communities.
These leaders and community members are voting early on October 7 so that they can be in their communities on Election Day, supporting people at the polls and opening community spaces for connection and care.
Democracy is something we care for together. This is why MNIPL and the Interfaith Movement Chaplains Network have created Healing Democracy, a movement to instill a sense of groundedness and confidence to our communities leading up to, during and after the election.
We deeply trust the integrity of our Minnesota elections and in our communities’ capacity to make their voices heard, and we will support the strength of our democracy by accompanying people and communities participating in that democracy.
Healing Democracy offers community caregivers and leaders of faith, conscience, or spiritual or religious practice three ways to support their communities:
- Poll Chaplaincy, where trained leaders offer calm, groundedness, and care near polling stations;
- Digital Chaplaincy where Minnesotans provide care in the online spaces they move in, offering support and trustworthy sources of information
- Community Care Teams, where communities of faith, conscience, and spiritual or religious practice become places of outreach and care for their neighbors before, during, and after election day
Join us to vote early and to learn more about how you can be part of the important work of Healing Democracy!
