HEALING MINNESOTA STORIES
Healing Minnesota Stories brings the voices, narratives, and perspectives of Indigenous people and communities into the center of our collective work towards climate justice. Together with our global repair work and our reparations work, Healing Minnesota Stories is part of MNIPL’s commitment to healing justice.
Since starting in 2011, Healing Minnesota Stories has offered presentations, dialogue, and tours to bring Minnesotans into deeper understanding of the history of this land and the Indigenous people who have called it home and called them into the work of repair and reparation.

SACRED SITES TOURS
The Twin Cities are built on the traditional homelands of the Dakota, and this region is home to sites of significance for the Indigenous people who have lived here and still call this place home.
Sacred Site Tours invite us to learn the history and importance of these sacred sites, to reflect on our own roles in the continuing systems of colonization and extraction, and to develop plans for future action on reparation and repair. Participants move beyond just learning about the history of these places and into a deeper relationship with their own responsibility for honoring, protecting, and repairing our relationship with these places and the Indigenous people who originated here.
Each tour lasts about 4 hours and includes a visit to three sacred sites throughout the Cities. Since starting in 2011, Sacred Site Tours has offered more than 500 tours to close to 15,000 people. We’d love to host you or your organization!
ORGANIZATIONAL TOURS
Private tours are available for any organizations, including communities of faith, conscience, or spiritual practice, that would like to bring members, employees, or volunteers to these sacred spaces. If your organization is interested in a tour, please contact Jim Bear Jacobs at jimbear@mnipl.org
PUBLIC TOURS
We also offer public tours for individuals or small groups. Seating for these tours is usually limited, so please sign up quickly.
Tour dates will be announced in early May – please sign up for our email list to know when they are released!
