Duluth volunteers provide Covid-19 community support

On July 2nd, the Duluth volunteer team completed a 2-month COVID Community Support plan by providing dinner to 30 guests of Loaves & Fishes, which offers hospitality to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The team purchased food from Pizza Luce (their favorite:)). Loaves & Fishes staff have mentioned that they’ve had increased guest turnover, an increase in the number of guests, and such an increased need for food that they started serving lunch as well as supper. Their volunteer staff have been working to serve this increased need, and the take out food is welcomed not just for a delicious meal, but as a break to staff too.

Also last week, the team collaborated with folks from Sierra Club, the Izaak Walton League, the Climate Mobilization, Citizens Climate Lobby, NAACP, and other organizations and individuals, to construct face shields for COVID frontline workers and raise $1000 for the NAACP (see Beth modeling a face shield in the photo!). It was really fun to see people in person again and work together to help our community. And Ecolibrium3 was a fantastic host, with music and games to keep us all going for 4 hours!

Thank you to all who generously contributed to make this community effort possible!
